Look up and let it go, folks: a partial lunar eclipse is coming. This eclipse falls in Pisces, the sign of poets, escape artists, illusionists, dreamy tricksters, and gentle tricksters.
Eclipses have long been associated with luck, reversals of fortune, and points of no return. The word itself comes from Greek eclipsis, meaning “to abandon, to abandon a common place”.
In this sense, we can begin to understand the energy of this eclipse as landing, shedding skin, and walking/walking/stripping raw and renewed into our next phase of being.
When is the partial lunar eclipse?
The partial eclipse in Pisces is happening on Tuesday, September 17 at 10:34 PM ET, but its effects will be felt for several days before and after.
The brilliant astrologer Evan Nathaniel Grim, founder of Inner Worlds Astrology, helps and encourages understanding this week’s Monday.
Gloomy points out, “Eclipses are essentially energetic resets. Little bit of fate events will come down and unfold that we don’t expect to happen, but are meant to really point us in the direction we need to go. Eclipses can be accompanied by wake-up calls and uncomfortable truths that jolt us out of our comfort zone.”
What is a partial lunar eclipse?
A lunar eclipse occurs on a full moon when the Earth stands between the Moon and the Sun, blocking the latter’s light. A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the Sun and the Full Moon, but they are not perfectly aligned.
Because this eclipse is occurring in Pisces, the sign of cumulative release, universal healing, and escapist tendencies, these themes are emerging around and through this lunation.
Grim explains, “A full moon in Pisces is an amazing release valve. I would argue that if you can’t let something go in this Pisces moon, then you don’t know when you will. I think it’s a really healing full moon that can help people recover.”
Grim explains, “There are many opportunities for release during this eclipse. Perhaps you let go of a belief system that is no longer leading you in the right direction. You may release a grudge you’ve been holding against someone. You may release a illusion that is misleading you. You can release an unhealthy habit that has been holding you back.”
Lunar Eclipse September 2024
Because Pisces is the domain of dreams and illusions, this eclipse can also signal a coming to light of things we’ve avoided or been unclear about.
Grim says this lunation can provide irrefutable evidence that supports our growth, “For some people, it can be confirmation that they want to be sober, confirmation that they want a new job, or confirmation that their partner is a pathological liar. , confirmation that they” lied to themselves.”
The Piscean underside is the desire to detach, to be comfortably numb and to deceive oneself. Grim says this eclipse will bring to the surface themes of withdrawal and surrender, “People have experienced withdrawal from something in their lives that was traditionally a reliable source of escape. This eclipse may be a good point in that journey as we step back from fantasy and embrace reality.”
At its best and brightest, Piscean energy is about the pursuit of universal love, and this eclipse makes us question whether we aim high or live low.
Grim encourages us all to ask, “Where am I getting the pleasure? Where am I getting solace? How am I getting that feeling of happiness? How am I experiencing universal love? Do I get it from the right sources or by escaping into foolish territory?”
Other astro aspects to consider during this eclipse?
Mercury, our planet of communication, will oppose Saturn, the planet of limitations. Gloom suspects that this confrontation will result in many people not having ‘contact’ with someone who has harmed them, choosing to forgive but knowing that they cannot forget and walk away from the relationship.
During the eclipse, Venus, our planet of love and attraction, will be in Libra, opposing Chiron, the asteroid of deep pain and deep potential for healing, in Aries.
“Chiron in Aries is very much about self-love, self-esteem, embracing all sides of yourself, not seeing your weaknesses as things to run from, but things to deal with or accept.”
With this objection, that acceptance comes with and through another person.
“Venus in Libra is any union in which we believe the other person has some advice to give we that we cannot give ourselves away.”
Grim explains that this resistance can be expressed by opening up to a partner or seeking the advice of a friend or shaman.
Regardless of what release and acceptance looks like for you, there’s no better time to find it than now.
